BingeNext's take

If you’re drawn to gritty crime dramas with a historical twist, Ripper Street is a great pick. Set in the East End of London just after the infamous Ripper murders, it follows the tough H Division police precinct as they try to restore order in a chaotic, dangerous world. The show feels like stepping into a dark, foggy London street where every character is shaped by the violence and fear that linger after those brutal crimes. With strong performances from Matthew Macfadyen and a solid supporting cast, it’s perfect for anyone who enjoys a mix of mystery and drama with a strong sense of place. The pacing gives you time to get invested in the detectives’ struggles and the city’s shadowy corners. If you liked Peaky Blinders or Sherlock, this series offers a similarly intense and atmospheric experience across five seasons.
