New on Prime Video and Apple TV in September 2026

Netflix takes the attention every month, and every month Prime Video and Apple TV quietly put out the things people actually finish. September 2026 is a good example: a Ryan Reynolds action film, a Gal Gadot thriller, the return of the best spy show on television, and the first spinoff out of the Reacher universe.

Mayday went up September 4. It's the month's biggest film on either service, pairing Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh, with Reynolds doing the fast-talking and Branagh the buttoned-up menace. Apple has been leaning into star-driven originals like this, and it's the easiest Friday night on the list.
Last Seen premiered September 9 with its first two episodes, an Australian thriller led by Patrick Brammall. It trades spectacle for slow-building dread. If your taste runs to tense and character-driven rather than loud, this is the platform's sleeper pick this month.

The Runner landed September 2, a psychological thriller starring Gal Gadot. It's Prime's first swing of the month and the most conventional one.
The Grand Tour returned September 4 with new hosts: Francis Bourgeois, James Engelsman and Thomas Holland taking over the motoring format. Whether that works without the previous trio is the whole question, and the answer is in the first episode.
Drawn Together arrived September 9, a romantic thriller starring Ester Expósito and adapted from Mercedes Ron's novel. It is aimed squarely at the audience that made Elite a global hit.
Still ahead: Slow Horses season 6, September 16
This is the month's headline and it deserves its name in the heading. Slow Horses, Apple's MI5 series led by Gary Oldman as the gloriously disgusting Jackson Lamb, returns for a sixth season on September 16 and runs one episode a week through October 21, six in total.
The season adapts more of Mick Herron's novels, and the format is the reason the show keeps working: six lean hours, no padding, a plot that resolves. If you have never watched it, five previous seasons are already there, and each one is short enough to clear in a weekend.
Who it's for: anyone who wants espionage that is funny without being a comedy. It is the single best reason to hold an Apple TV subscription through October.
Still ahead: Neagley, September 16
Prime Video's marquee drop lands the same day. Neagley is the first spinoff from the Reacher universe, giving Maria Sten's Frances Neagley her own show as a private investigator in Chicago chasing justice for a friend killed in a suspicious accident. Amazon MGM Studios confirmed the date, an eight-episode season, and that all eight episodes drop at once rather than weekly. Alan Ritchson guest stars as Reacher.
Who it's for: Reacher viewers who want the same world with a lead who solves things by being quicker rather than larger. The all-at-once release makes it the obvious weekend of the 19th.
The rest of the Prime Video month
A Love Other Than Yours arrives September 12, a Korean drama about a decade-long relationship reaching a decision point. You and Me Against the World follows on September 18, a French young-adult film adapted from Emma Green's trilogy. The Love Hypothesis lands September 23 with Lili Reinhart in a fake-relationship rom-com between a PhD candidate and a professor, and Go Deep: The DeSean Jackson Story closes the month on September 24 for the sports documentary slot.
On the live side, Thursday Night Football is on Prime on September 17 and 24, with WNBA coverage on the 19th, 27th and 29th.
The rest of the Apple month
Brothers premieres September 23 with two episodes, a comedy reuniting Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson more than a decade after they last worked together. Two actors of that size doing a buddy comedy is the kind of low-effort, high-charm hang a streaming service needs, and it is the feel-good pick to finish the month on.
How to plan the month across both
Spread across four weeks, this works out neatly. Mayday and The Grand Tour covered the opening weekend. Last Seen and Drawn Together started on the 9th if you want something with episodes to look forward to. The 16th is the crowded day, and the honest advice is to let Slow Horses be your weekly show and save Neagley for a single sitting, since it releases in full anyway. Brothers closes things out on the 23rd.
Apple carries the heavier lifting this month. Prime's one big swing is a good one, and its film slate is deeper than usual.

If you only have room for one thing, Slow Horses. If you want the biggest single night, Neagley on the 16th. If you want a film and no commitment, Mayday. If you want something to watch with someone who hates subtitles and violence, Brothers on the 23rd.
