BingeNext's take

If you're into crime thrillers that keep you hooked without relying on fast action, Zodiac is a great pick. This 2007 film follows the obsession of San Francisco Chronicle editors and an amateur cartoonist as they try to crack the mystery of the Zodiac Killer over a decade. It’s a slow burn, focusing on the frustration and tension that builds when answers are just out of reach, making it feel like you’re right there piecing things together alongside the characters. The cast, including Jake Gyllenhaal and Robert Downey Jr., brings a grounded, real-world vibe that adds to the suspense without going over the top. At 157 minutes, it’s a commitment, but if you like movies where the mood and details matter more than quick thrills, this one will keep you thinking long after the credits roll. Perfect for fans of thoughtful mysteries and true crime stories.

Synopsis

Police conduct a manhunt for the Zodiac Killer, a serial killer who terrorized the San Francisco Bay Area during the late 1960s and early 1970s, taunting police with letters, bloodstained clothing, and ciphers mailed to newspapers.
