New on Apple TV in October 2026 on BingeNext

Apple TV keeps punching above its weight, and October 2026 is a perfect example. The service is closing out two of its best returning series, launching a starry mountaineering drama, and kicking off a chilly new crime thriller, all in the same month. If you only pay for Apple a few months a year, this is a very good one to keep. Here is what is worth your time, with dates so you can time the subscription.

Apple's whole strategy has always been quality over quantity, and this month shows why that works. You will not find a hundred new titles buried in the menu, just a handful of genuinely ambitious ones that other services would have made the centerpiece of their entire season. Let us run through them.

Slow Horses wraps up its sixth season

The jewel of the Apple lineup reaches a milestone this month. Slow Horses airs its sixth-season finale on October 21, closing out another run of the beloved spy drama starring Gary Oldman as the gloriously repulsive Jackson Lamb. If you have somehow never watched, the show follows a department of disgraced British intelligence officers banished to a dead-end office, and it is consistently one of the sharpest, funniest, most tightly plotted things on television. Jack Lowden returns as River Cartwright, the ambitious young agent who keeps getting dragged into Lamb's messes, and the ensemble around them has become one of the most reliable in television. Each season adapts one of Mick Herron's novels, so the finale will tie off this year's conspiracy with the show's usual grim wit and at least one gut-punch you will not see coming. The episodes have been rolling out weekly, which is the rare case where the wait between installments actually builds the tension instead of killing it. There is no better time to binge the whole run from the start and catch up before the ending lands.

Tenzing scales the mountain

The big new film of the month is Tenzing, arriving October 16. It tells the story of Tenzing Norgay, the Sherpa who summited Everest alongside Edmund Hillary in 1953, with newcomer Genden Phuntsok in the lead and heavyweight support from Tom Hiddleston and Willem Dafoe. Mountaineering movies live or die on scale and tension, and a prestige streamer putting real resources behind this kind of true story is exactly the sort of swing Apple likes to take. Telling the story from Tenzing's perspective rather than Hillary's is a smart, overdue choice, and the casting of a relative newcomer in the lead suggests Apple wants the focus squarely on the man history too often left in the background. If you love a survival epic or a based-on-history drama, clear an evening for this one.

Nocturne brings the Nordic noir chill

At the end of the month, Nocturne premieres on October 30, and it looks like one of Apple's darker offerings. Adapted from Lars Kepler's bestselling Joona Linna crime novels, it stars Liev Schreiber and Stephen Graham in a story about a former soldier turned detective hunting a serial killer in small-town western Pennsylvania. Two episodes drop at launch with the rest rolling out weekly, so it will carry you deep into the holidays. If the Slow Horses finale leaves a hole in your week, this is lining up to fill it with something colder and nastier.

Dark Matter closes out its second season

Dark Matter also wraps its second season with a finale on October 30. Based on Blake Crouch's mind-bending novel, the series follows a man confronted by alternate versions of his own life across the multiverse, and it has been one of Apple's most quietly addictive sci-fi plays. If you fell off after the first season or never started, it is a smart binge for anyone who likes a high-concept thriller that actually thinks through its own rules. The finale promises to close the loop on a story that loves folding back on itself.

Small Prophets for something stranger

For a change of pace, Small Prophets landed on October 7. This acquired British dramedy from Mackenzie Crook follows a grieving man who turns to alchemy and accidentally creates tiny creatures that can predict the future, with Michael Palin among the cast. It is odd, gentle, and very British, the kind of low-key gem Apple likes to tuck into its catalog between the big swings. If you want something with a smaller scale and a weirder heart, start here.

What else to catch

A couple more things round out the month:

  • If you are new to Apple, the back catalog is deep, so the Slow Horses binge can easily roll into other award-winning originals once you are hooked.
  • The Nocturne rollout runs weekly into December, so it doubles as a reason to keep the subscription through the holidays rather than cancelling in November.

Apple may be the smallest of the major services by volume, but month after month it lands more than its share of the shows people actually talk about. October is a strong argument for keeping it in the rotation.
