Best Prime Video Shows Right Now: Finished, Running, Coming

Prime Video is the streaming service people forget they have. It sits behind a shopping tab, the interface buries originals under rentals, and half the good stuff never gets a billboard. Checked September 9, 2026, here is what is actually worth your evenings, sorted by the thing most people want to know first: is it finished, still running, or waiting on a date.
I have split the list into shows you can finish this month, shows still in progress, and one that has not arrived yet. Where a show streams can change without notice, so treat the platform notes as origin rather than a guarantee. The title page on BingeNext shows current US options.
Finished, so you can binge without waiting
The Boys ended on May 20, 2026, after five seasons. That matters, because the whole appeal of this show was watching a satire escalate until it had nowhere left to go, and now you can see whether it stuck the landing in one run. It is loud, mean, and much funnier than its reputation. Choose it if you like superhero stories that treat celebrity as the real superpower. Skip it if gore is a dealbreaker, because season five does not soften.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel ran five seasons from 2017 to 2023 and is still the best-looking comedy Prime has made. Amy Sherman-Palladino writes dialogue at a sprint, and the 1950s New York sets are absurdly detailed. The difference from most period comedy is that it is genuinely about ambition, not nostalgia. Choose it if you want something warm and fast. Choose something else if you need every character to be likable.
Bosch gave Prime seven seasons of unflashy Los Angeles police procedural between 2015 and 2021, and it holds up better than shows with twice the budget. It is patient, it respects the paperwork, and Titus Welliver plays a man who is bad at everything except the job. Good pick if you want an evening show you can watch two of and stop.
Upload finished in August 2025 after four seasons. A tech satire about a digital afterlife sounds thin, and for one season it is, then it gets sharp about who can afford to keep existing. Twenty-odd short episodes per season makes it an easy pickup.
Gen V wrapped in October 2025 after two seasons. It is The Boys on a college campus and it is better than a spinoff has any right to be, mostly because the cast plays the horror straight.
Still running, so expect a wait
Fallout is the best thing on the service right now. Season two ran from December 2025 into February 2026, and the show has figured out how to be funny about a nuclear wasteland without being smug about it. Walton Goggins is doing the most enjoyable work of his career. Choose it if you like a strong world and a story that moves. It has been renewed, so you will be waiting for season three.
Reacher put out season four between August 12 and September 16, 2026, and season five is already ordered. Every season adapts a different Lee Child book, which means each one is a self-contained case. It is not clever and does not want to be. It is a very large man solving a problem in eight hours. Sometimes that is exactly the right thing.
Invincible released season four in March and April 2026. The animation carries real weight, the voice cast is deep, and it is the rare adaptation that goes to darker places than the source. Choose it if you liked The Boys but want the emotional stakes to actually land.
The Terminal List returns with season two on October 21, 2026. The first season was a blunt military revenge story with Chris Pratt playing against type. If you want something serious and heavy, it delivers, and the second season arrives soon enough that starting now makes sense.
The Summer I Turned Pretty ran its third season from July to September 2025. It is teen romance played completely earnestly, and it works because nobody involved is embarrassed by it. Choose it if you want a show that is kind. Skip it if you want plot.
Announced, not out yet
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power returns with season three on November 11, 2026. Two seasons have aired so far. Season two was a clear improvement on the first, with a tighter focus and a better sense of scale, so this is the one worth marking on a calendar rather than starting cold in September.
How to pick tonight
If you want something you can finish, start with The Boys or Mrs. Maisel, depending on whether you want to be shocked or charmed. If you want the best show on the service and do not mind waiting for more, it is Fallout. If you want low effort and high satisfaction, Reacher. If you want a calendar entry rather than a binge, Rings of Power on November 11.
