Best Apple TV Shows Right Now

Apple TV has the smallest library of the major services and the highest hit rate, which makes it the easiest one to actually finish. Checked September 9, 2026, here is what is worth the subscription right now, split into what has already aired this year, what is airing as you read this, and what has a date but has not landed yet.
Where a show streams can change, but these are all Apple originals, so origin is not in question. Season counts and dates below come from the season listings and Apple's own announcements.
Aired earlier in 2026
Shrinking ran its third season from January 28 to April 8, 2026, twelve episodes. Jason Segel plays a grieving therapist who starts telling his patients what he actually thinks; Harrison Ford plays his mentor and gets the best lines in the show. It shares nothing with the prestige-drama crowd and that is the point. Choose it if you want something funny that is willing to be sad for a full scene before making a joke.
For All Mankind put out season five from March 27 to May 29, 2026, ten episodes. Five seasons of alternate space-race history, each one jumping forward roughly a decade. It is the most ambitious thing on the service and the least discussed. Choose it if you like a show that ages its cast and changes its own genre every season. Start at season one; the jumps only work in order.
Your Friends and Neighbors ran season two from April 3 to June 5, 2026. Jon Hamm as a fired hedge fund manager quietly robbing his wealthy neighbors. It is a caper with a class-satire engine, and Hamm is very good at playing a man whose competence is entirely social.
Palm Royale finished its second season on January 14, 2026 and that is where it stands. Kristen Wiig clawing into 1969 Palm Beach society. Bright, cruel, and a lot stranger than the trailers suggest.
Airing right now
Ted Lasso came back on August 5, 2026 and runs weekly through October 7. Three years after a finale that read as an ending, which means the fourth season has to justify itself rather than coast. If you bounced off the third season, this is worth a second look; if you never started, the first season is still the most purely likeable television of the last decade.
Slow Horses begins its sixth season on September 16, 2026, six episodes through October 21. Gary Oldman as a repellent spymaster running the department MI5 uses to bury its failures. It has kept a nearly annual schedule since 2022, which almost nothing else manages, and every season adapts a different Mick Herron novel so the quality stays remarkably level. This is the best show on the service.
Finished runs worth starting cold
Severance has two seasons, from 2022 and 2025. A third has been ordered and there is no announced date; it was not in Apple's fall 2026 lineup. So season two is where you stop for now, and season two ends on a note that will annoy you if you are not expecting a wait. Choose it anyway. Nothing else on television is doing what it does with space and silence.
The Studio is one ten-episode season from spring 2025. Seth Rogen runs a film studio badly, shot in long roaming takes that make every episode feel like a panic attack. It is the funniest thing Apple has made.
Murderbot is one ten-episode season from May to July 2025, adapting Martha Wells with Alexander Skarsgard as a security android that would rather be watching soap operas. Short episodes, dry voice, more heart than the premise suggests.
Bad Sisters is complete at two seasons, 2022 and 2024. Five Irish sisters, one dead brother-in-law, structured so you know the outcome and spend the season working out the how. Very funny, genuinely warm.
Chief of War is a nine-episode first season from August and September 2025, telling the unification of the Hawaiian islands largely in Hawaiian with Jason Momoa leading. Nothing else on the service looks like it.
Physical ran three seasons from 2021 to 2023. Rose Byrne building an aerobics business in 1980s San Diego while her internal monologue eats her alive. It is a dark show wearing bright colors.
Pachinko has two seasons, 2022 and 2024, following a Korean family across generations and three languages. It is beautifully made and it takes its time.
What was canceled
Two worth knowing about before you start them. Hello Tomorrow! got one season in 2023 and no second order, so it ends unresolved. Foundation has three seasons, most recently in summer 2025, and a fourth has not been dated. If you dislike being left mid-story, plan accordingly.
Where to start
If you are subscribing for one show, make it Slow Horses. If you want the thing everyone will talk about, Severance, with the wait built in. If you want to laugh, The Studio, then Shrinking. If you want the most ambitious swing on the service, For All Mankind from season one. And if you want something you can finish in a weekend, Murderbot.
Deciding between five good options is its own small misery.
